Meet the Tutors – Wednesday 16 September - 17.30 to 19.00
Dear Parents,
The role of the Tutor is to support and guide your child and should be seen as the first point of contact when you have any questions regarding progress or performance in school. The event on Wednesday 16 September is therefore the perfect opportunity for you to get to know your child’s tutor. We will also take this opportunity to explain more about what we do during our PSHE and new Growing Minds programme, which operates every Monday afternoon. Each year group will have a different focus for the year ahead, based upon the needs of the curriculum and next steps forward in their educational journey. An overview of this programme will be shared with you at the Meet the Tutor event, so you have a clear picture of how we will be supporting your child this year.
Where to meet your child’s Tutor Team:
- Year 7 – The Round House
- Year 8 & 9 – The Library
- Year 10 & 11 – Room 206
- Year 12 & 13 – The IB Suite
Signs will be posted around the school. There will be refreshments and a light finger buffet provided at all of the above locations so please make your way to the appropriate room for a prompt start at 17.30. There will be a short presentation by the Head of Year to start, followed by informal mingling.
This is a new format in response to feedback from last year’s parent survey, which asked for an early opportunity to meet the tutors before more formal subject-based parents’ evenings happen later in the term. There is no need to make any appointments. If you have a child in more than one year group, please feel free to move between the different rooms at your convenience.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible and hope you enjoy this opportunity to make a positive connection with your child’s tutor.
Kind regards,
Paul McConnell
Deputy Head of Secondary
