On 22nd March, 7 students from Years 10 and 12 plus 2 teachers set-off for the Kingdom of Nepal to take part in an Eco Conference hosted by the British School of Kathmandu. Sixty –five students from 8 international schools across the Asia-Pacific region including those from schools in Korea, Malaysia and Thailand.

The theme of the Conference was Sustainable Development and the students were soon involved in fun, hands-on practical workshops such as designing a small-scale stove from clay that eliminated pollution from wood smoke and creating solar light using empty plastic bottles.
The students, inspired by the passion of the NGO Good Earth Nepal organisation, soon got their hands dirty again making walls using earth bag technology as a way of facilitating low-cost housing that can be built in a surprisingly short period of time. The afternoon of the same day saw all the students hiking up the nearby Kathmandu valley to savour some truly spectacular views.
