How did your children settle into school?
The process of enrolling and settling in was easy. The Admissions team guided us through the enrolment process and took the time to answer every question we had. In addition, the openness, patience and encouragement from various teachers made the transition to Regents a pleasant journey. They all did their very best to answer our questions regarding our children’s learning issues. As a family, we have settled in well, have built friendships with many of the school staff and feel very happy in the school community. The first few days were, of course, challenging for our children, but soon they started making friends with students of many different nationalities. We feel that our children benefit greatly from these interactions: they have picked up useful, as well as colourful language phrases and can greet people in many different languages. Hopefully, this will instill in them an enthusiasm for continuing to learn languages. However, we appreciate that Thai language and culture are also featured in our children’s learning.
What do you feel is the greatest benefit of sending your children to Regents?
At Regents, our children have learned to adapt and adjust to a British education system. In other words, they had to step out of their comfort zone to learn and hopefully thrive in an unfamiliar territory. The school’s rural location really appealed to us and provides a well-rounded learning environment. The school’s affiliation with Nord Anglia Education was also an important consideration. We appreciate the opportunities Nord Anglia Education schools offer, and as our family might be relocating to the USA in the future, it is reassuring to know that our children will be able to continue studying at a NAE school there, making the transition much easier. In addition, we believe that our children are really benefitting from opportunities on offer at Regents, be it in academic competitions, Drama and Music performances, sports, international trips or the extensive range of After School Activities. We are glad that the school offers so many of these activities and look forward to all future additions.
How do you rate the teachers at Regents?
The teachers are great. We were especially impressed with our daughter’s first form tutor. Our daughter was having a hard time when she first joined the school, but with patience and encouragement, her form tutor helped her to positively embrace her new setting. She is now very happy at school. In addition, we feel that teachers take great care to communicate our children’s progress and areas of development to us. This is especially true during parent-teacher conferences.
What are your hopes for your children’s future, at school and beyond?
We researched and read about the IB Diploma Programme and believe that it is a good preparatory programme for the transition to university. We would like our children to study the DP either here or at their future school, and hope that they will pursue a higher education. We also hope that our children’s current experiences will equip them to easily adapt and thrive in their adult lives when they encounter and/or work with people from different backgrounds.
What does Regents do well, and what could we improve on?
We are pleased to see that our children have developed keen research skills and the ability to perform in front of a large audience. We believe that both of these are essential skills for a successful transition into higher education and their future work life.
We have learnt that Regents will be investing in a better and larger library with access to a whole range of new/current books that will be built over the summer holidays - this is an area that we felt needed improvement. We appreciate the school’s commitment to fueling students’ interest in research and pure reading pleasure.
What will Thai parents appreciate about the education that we offer at Regents?
Thai parents will appreciate their children's exposure to an international learning environment. Consequently, learning and gaining confidence in the use of a foreign language is a priceless skill for their future.
