“I believe our voice is strong enough to spread this message and that we all should behave with the courage and kindness that is within us!” Chaewon, Year 13
The project has come at a particularly relevant time, when many young people have experienced periods of separation from friends and family and feelings of isolation.
“As someone who could have used some kindness and compassion while growing up and not fitting in with the other kids, I think it’s a very important message, no matter what age you are. I decided to voice the character of Ms. Caring in the hopes that it will add just a bit more kindness in the world.” Mahi, Year 13
This animation is a fantastic example of how students across many year groups have worked together to create something which has had a much bigger impact than originally anticipated -to be kind, to embrace diversity and look out for one another.
“At first, it was a fun way to help kids learn about the importance of looking out for each other. Reflecting on the message now, I realise it’s important to start learning about these virtues at a young age, so kids can have a meaningful impact on others.” Belinda, Year 13
The students that were involved in creating the animation were:
Jazmyn, Year 13 – Project leader
Mahi, Year 13 - Ms. Caring
Seobin, Year 13 - Mr. Respect
Chaewon, Year 13- Amelia (little girl)
Belinda, Year 13 - Ms. Kindness
Matias, Year 13 - Mr. Gratitude
George, Year 5 - Caleb (little boy)
“I was happy to spread my voice so people can learn to be kind. It was a lot of fun and I would love to do something like this again.” George, Year 5
The idea for the animations were simple, to make the world a better place! And after lots of brainstorming students came up with the fantastic idea to create animations for our Primary school students using superheroes to demonstrate various life skills and qualities such as kindness, respect, helping each other, and friendship.
“This was one of the hardest, yet most rewarding task I have ever done. It was an experience I won't forget.” Jazmyn, Year 13
Thank you to all the students who took part in this project and to Mr. Shawn Taylor for supporting students in bringing this project to life.
“I want to thank all that were involved throughout this process and Jazmyn for juggling her IBDP course load!”
Mr. Shawn Taylor, Whole School Counsellor
