Kirsten van Niekerk holds a BA in English from the University of Cape Town as well as a PGCE in Secondary School Education for English, Mathematics and Afrikaans; and she has just completed her MSEd in Leadership and Administration at Walden University in United States.
She currently has 16 years of experience in education in a variety of leadership and teaching positions in South Africa, the UK, Japan and China. Most recently she was the Assistant Head of Senior School (in charge of Key Stage 3) at Dulwich College Suzhou, China, for 3 years. She was responsible for leading the growth in student numbers at Key Stage 3 as well as ensuring assessment and reporting was consistent and transparent for teachers, students and other stakeholders. Kirsten is an advocate for Project Based Learning and looks forward to building on the innovation and collaboration already evident at Regents.
She is passionate about student learning and creativity and believes that all students can (and should) make progress. As an Apple Distinguished Educator she is also eager to incorporate technology into her lessons and she is excited to work in this stimulating and exciting environment.
