This year’s Languages Performance took place on the 10th December and the students were very keen to take part. We began with Señor Tsui’s Spanish class, whose four performers - Branson Wu, Gabrielle Tison, Kokil Sehgal and Helene Vestrum - gave some word-perfect Spanish speeches all about themselves and their families. Students and teachers alike were impressed by their confidence, clarity and super Spanish accents! The class followed with a beautiful song, O Come all Ye Faithful, which was of course sung in Spanish.
We then watched the French class, led by Madame Malcolm-Severn, whose turn was particularly enjoyable since it included three songs and absolutely everyone in the class performing a little French conversation! Their French is clearly coming along very well and they seem to have some very lively French lessons each Thursday morning!
Next came Señorita Rodriguez’ class with some lovely speeches by Jana Baden and Sreya Sundarrajan, who told us in Spanish about their own families and could also express basic opinions about the hobbies they enjoy. This class then really livened up the performance with their version of an energetic Spanish song called ‘Gatatumba’!
Finally, we heard from Señora Ford’s Spanish class who performed two songs, one that they sing in lessons to help remember the Spanish numbers, and afterwards the popular Christmas song ‘Feliz Navidad’. This class was represented by Arne Springmann, Adrian Lindqvist, Bahia Bertin, Lou-Anne Senechal, Sebastian Zakhem and James Russell who carried out some Spanish conversations on stage.
I am so proud of all the young linguists who spoke and sang in French and Spanish during the performance, and am very much looking forward to seeing them all go from strength to strength in their weekly language lessons next year.
