The students were among some 450 entrants to the competition which asked students to create an artwork around the theme “My City”. Our students’ contributions ranged from a water colour painting of the Pudong skyline to an abstract impression of the city lights, and were commended for their creativity and accuracy.
Head of Art, Mr Dafydd Thomas, congratulated the students for their efforts saying, “Producing any piece of Art work can be a challenging and daunting prospect; one of the finest privileges of being an Art teacher is seeing the enthusiasm students have to produce Art outside of the curriculum. The time and effort these students put in to these pieces is outstanding and it is wonderful that their efforts and artistic skills have been recognised in such a prestigious way.”
The 50 finalists in the competition will have their work exhibited at the Hub shopping mall in Minhang and, this weekend, will be recognised in a special awards ceremony. Category winners will also be announced during the ceremony and we wish all of the students the very best of luck!
