Message from the Principal

11 November 2016

I started the week by attending the FOBISIA Leaders Conference in Bangkok, where I participated in a number of thought-provoking sessions surrounding the theme of safeguarding, particularly in the digital realm. This is an important topic which we have discussed at length throughout today's staff training. It is certainly of particular relevance in this world in which we live; where our children have grown up with technology and often provide their expertise to us as adults. The challenge is not to restrict online use, but to educate our children and to mitigate their risks online.

There are certainly benefits to having these emerging technologies at our fingertips, but we as educators and parents need to ensure our young people make intelligent decisions. I’ve been working with a number of outside agencies to provide additional guidance to parents during an upcoming coffee morning. We look forward to sharing this, along with the safeguarding techniques we are providing as a school, over the coming weeks and months.

Continuing on the theme of FOBISIA, whilst we wrap up for the colder months ahead, our U15 children are braving the intense heat of Manila as they participate in the 2016 FOBISIA U15 Games. With some amazing highs and a few lows, our students are representing the Pudong Tigers with a fierce fighting spirit and by winning games on the court, the pitch and track. It is no easy feat to compete in multiple sports at the highest level. Go Tigers!

Best wishes for a wonderful weekend.
