It is now six weeks until the end of the year but the Art Department is still going strong and the creativity is buzzing. Currently Year 9 are working on and developing their Banksy mixed media pieces; these pieces are homage to the clandestine Artist Banksy and the great works of the expressionist artists. Year 8 are continuing to develop their sculptures based on the eccentric conceptual artist Yayoi Kusama and this promises to be an exciting unit that the students are enthused by.
Finally I would like to say a big thank you and congratulations to the IGCSE Year 11 students who have just finished their course. Their blood, sweat and tears over the year has resulted in some truly fantastic work, we at the Creative Arts Department are all very proud of you. Good luck with the rest of your exams.
Stage and Screen
What a fantastic night this was for all. A huge thank you to all the parents who attended. It was fabulous to see a packed auditorium again for what turned out to be a wonderful evening of music from the most loved shows and films. From the 20th Century Fox start to the dazzling Les Miserables finish, the one-hour concert flew by and left the audience calling for more! Congratulations to all! Pictures are on the website and Facebook and I hope soon small videos will be uploaded for those parents who couldn’t see their children perform on the night.
Juilliard Visit
As I mentioned last week, we welcome our Juilliard curriculum specialist, Andrea Lee, back again next Thursday and Friday for her third and final visit this year. I know the cellos are eagerly awaiting their session with her and also the younger students who she will be interacting with. These days are always inspiring to our pupils and hopefully this one will be equally the same.
Summer Fun Day
We will have Rainbow Review, Cantabella, Senior Vocal Group and the Community Choir performing at this event on June the 4th. A letter will go out with all the details this week, with the link for the online form which worked so well for the last concert.
