In English, we will continue to read the story ‘The Yellow Submarine.’ The children will orally retell the story using a story path, this will help to aid them with their written work. They will conclude by adapting part of the story using their own ideas.

Key Focus: To use story language, spell words correctly using the 40+ phonemes already taught, compose a sentence orally before writing, sequence sentences to form short narratives

In Mathematics, the children will begin to identify the place value of numbers. They will use practical equipment to explore the value of hundreds, tens and units and explore where numbers live in our number system.

Key vocabulary: place value, hundreds, tens, units, value, exchange, equals, the same amount as, digit

Next week, the learning goal we will be exploring will be ‘Adaptability.’ We will use the Beatles song ‘When I’m sixty four’ as our stimulus.

The children will continue to explore art in the sixties by creating their own seaside scene. They will use the skills developed last week to create their own paintings.
