Year 2 Experience the Delights of the Sea

03 December 2013

Last week was the long awaited Seafood Day in Year 2. The children gathered over in the Secondary Auditorium, excited to taste the delights of the sea.

The parents sent in an amazing range of food with a seafood theme.  We were able to enjoy authentic Japanese sushi, fish cakes from South Africa, fried prawns from Pakistan along with amazing rice dishes and olives filled with anchovies.  We also had prawn cocktail, squid balls, and even seafood pizza!

The children were real risk-takers and loved experimenting with new tastes while talking about all they have learned about sea creatures and life under the sea.

A HUGE thank you to all the parents that contributed with food and their time on the day, making it such a success! It is lovely to see the children link their school learning with contributions from parents and their home countries.

“I loved the salmon from Norway and Sweden the best! It was tasty!” Oliver, 2I

“We really enjoyed eating the clams from their shells on the little sticks.” Olivia, 2U

“I thought the clams were delicious and the octopus was great!” Dana, 2U
