The wellbeing of our whole community is of the utmost importance to us and so we are keen to keep you as up to date as possible.
I am grateful to those of you who have taken the time to write to us and talk to us about the Clean Air Plan we introduced at the beginning of term. The overwhelming sentiment has been that people are very pleased with the measures that we have introduced to cope with any future issues. Thankfully the air quality in the city has returned to more normal levels and therefore we have not had to use many of the measures. I am pleased to be able to report that we have had delivery of a further 20 air purifiers and they were fitted last weekend. We expect to receive the next batch of 24 on 20 January and once they have been fitted we will have completed the process of introducing air purifiers in all of the primary classrooms. I will update you as the rest of our order comes in and we are able to undertake the same upgrade across the secondary building.
You will no doubt recall that we are also in the process of further improving our security processes and in particular daytime site access. There is no perceived increase threat to our security, but we review procedures on a regular basis and we feel it is time to tighten up our procedures. At the same time we will continue to provide a warm welcome to visitors and parents alike. An important part of this upgrading process is the introduction of new ID cards for all parents and carers who are involved in the dropping off and picking up of students from school and from the bus transport system. You will shortly receive a registration form which will ask you for a number of pieces of information central to producing these cards including passport quality photographs. It will also ask you for the details of any vehicles that you might use to bring children to school. As you will appreciate this is a sizeable administrative task and we would really appreciate it if you could fill in these forms carefully and accurately and return them to school as quickly as possible. Under the new system, having an ID card will provide quicker entry and access to the site.
We have already done a good deal of preparation work with training for the receptionist staff and security guards and we will be circulating our updated Security Plan before the CNY. We will introduce our operational changes next month and the precise start date will be to a degree dependent on the speed of response from families to our request for up to date information for the new system.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation in our work on community well being.
