The Story of Chinese New Year by the Students in 2S

27 January 2014

When class 2S performed in assembly in front of Years 1 and 2 and all the parents from 2S, we learnt about the story of Chinese New Year.

Xin Nian Kuai Le was the cry as the fearless members of class 2S fought off the monster Nian.

The villagers convened a council and discussed various ways to defend themselves against the dragon.

Konstanze, Joleigh, Sofia and Jumainah performed a beautiful Chinese fan dance to try to appease the dragon.

Lucas, Kevin, Freddy and John tried to fight him using Kung Fu.

Vilmer suggested dazzling him with beautiful colour wheels and Joleigh suggested defeating him with the awesome power of maths.

In the end it was the wise old man Howie who informed the villagers that dragons were scared of the colour red and loud noises.

Under his leadership the villagers fought off the dragon and a Happy Chinese New Year was enjoyed by all.
