Winter Wonderland PTA Fundraising
We hope you enjoyed the Winter Wonderland last weekend as much as we did.
We are very pleased to report the fundraising totals for the Winter Wonderland Charity Raffle. The success of this fundraiser is a direct result of resourcefulness and collaboration of the wonderful room parents of Primary and the enthusiasm of our school in supporting the raffle and buying raffle tickets! The total revenue from raffle ticket sales was RMB 41,310, an amazing total!
This fundraiser will help Mifan Mama, a human service organization in Shanghai, continue to serve children and orphans in need. 100% of the RMB 41,310 plus all proceeds from the event's PTA bar sales will be donated to Mifan Mama this term.
In total18 items were included in the Winter Wonderland Charity Raffle. The total maximum estimated value of all raffle items combined was RMB 32,80, but the total financial investment was significantly lower, as items were sourced through use of a) class funds b) corporate donations of products and gift vouchers and c) private donations. Our great results from this year's charity raffle are a 65% increase from previous years' raffle fundraisers, so a big thank you to everyone involved!
The PTA aims to continuously evaluate and request feedback to ensure that we are planning successful initiatives at BISS Puxi. New Parent Program Monthly Tea and PTA Coffee Morning
Friday morning was the combined meeting of new and "seasoned" parents at BISS Puxi over coffee and tea. There were over 40 people who attended and enjoyed meeting one another and hearing information about the PTA, the New Parent Programme, the coming Chinese New Year and how to find those "impossible to find" things in Shanghai!
Three people from the Tao-How.com website came to speak and show us how to navigate Taoboa and their own website, as well as how we can request their help to locate those household items we've been pulling our hair out to find! We all felt the relief of knowing we have them on our side to search for these things far and wide across China and we hope you will check out their website for your own personal needs. (FYI, click on "Go Shopping" and use the links on the left side of the screen to put in your request for help).
Next month's New Parent's Teatime will be on Friday 28 February at Cafe du Village. New parents, put it in your calendar! Stay tuned to the upcoming newsletters for the announcement of our next New Parent Tour which will be on 26 February!
Have a very happy Chinese New Year!
