Pleased to Meet You...Jon Fudge

23 October 2014

This week we spoke to Jon Fudge, PE Teacher and Head of BISCAP, to find out a bit more about him and how he’s settling into Shanghai.

  • PE Teacher Jonathan Fudge with his students in an athletics class

How long have you been at BISS Puxi? Joined in August and the time has flown by so I must be loving it!

What do you enjoy most about working here? The pupils' enthusiasm and the fantastic facilities and resources at our disposal as teachers.

What’s your favourite thing about coaching the BISS Lions rugby teams? It’s been great working with genuinely talented lads who are desperate to improve.  Their commitment is brilliant, they all train three times per week including early mornings, and they’re also proactive in organising their own practise.  Furthermore, they have really come together as one squad, the D1 and D2 teams train with each other and support each other brilliantly.  This was evident with both sides cheering each other along at the recent SISSAC tournament, which we won!

What do you like most about the city? I love how different it is from what I’m used to.  There is so much going on with so much to see and do, coming from a very quiet part of the UK where nothing much happened, it has been a great change.

Where are you from and what do you miss from home? I am from the UK, my wife and I lived in a small rural village in Norfolk, so Shanghai couldn’t really be much different.  I think we both miss the countryside and its fresh air, we could only see farmer’s fields from our house.
