It was a beautiful day and the sun was shining as over 1,700 students and parents came out for a brilliant Christmas Fair.
There was food, drink and gift vendors for the adults, and lots of games to keep the younger guests entertained: sponge the Teacher was one of the most popular!
We also had performances from the BISCAP gymnasts, the Junior and Senior BISS Lions Cheerleading teams, and a variety of Rock Bands and Choirs who led Christmas carol sing-a-longs with the crowd.
Lots of little boys and girls had the chance to visit our guest of honour, Santa, in his grotto and have their photo taken with him, and the raffle draw caused a lot of excitement, as it does every year.
Our Year 12 CAS students did a brilliant job both in preparation for the event and on the day itself. They sourced the prizes for the raffle draw, ran the soft drinks bar, prepared and ran all the games, ran the bake sale and fundraised on the day too. All the money raised will be going to the Indochina Starfish Foundation (ISF), the charity that our Year 12s have been working with since 2009. The money goes towards sponsoring children in Cambodia through school and the Year 12s will be going to visit the charity’s schools in Cambodia next June to see their donation being put to good use. The total raised is still being counted, but is looking to be around the 90,000 RMB mark!
The Year 10 business students were also running their own stalls and games throughout the day as well as the Enterprise Club ECA who were selling cakes to raise money for ISF and Christmas cards designed by our own students. Thanks also must go to our Korean parents who put on a range of different Korean tradition games and crafts for all the children to try.
It was a brilliant day of fun for the whole community and we hope you all had as good a time as we did!
The PTA organizing committee led by Petra Herbertz and Sabrina Galasso did a great job this year and they wanted to say a few thank yous:.
"A big thank you to Ms Coong, Ms Rae and Ms Chapman for all their help and an even bigger one to all volunteers who have made the event possible.
We would like to also say thank you to Manuela Loia and Monika Conde who prepared Santa’s Grotto. They did a brilliant job, it was so special and there was always a queue of kids waiting to meet Santa. Thank you too to Santa for taking time out of his busy schedule to come to our Christmas Fair!
From the whole PTA, we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and the best for the New Year ahead."
