This concert was the first performance for our Key Stage 1 Choir, who wowed the audience with their impeccable behaviour as well their beautiful singing. We also had over 60 Year 7 students performing in our newly formed Year 7 Choir who finished the concert with their enthusiastic singing. Our regular favourites, the Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 Choirs took to the stage and showed real improvement since their performances last year.
Our instrumentalists did themselves proud as well, with Junior Strings, Senior Strings, Jazz Ensemble and Junior Jazz all demonstrating how hard work and practise can produce excellent results.
The music department have recently purchased a set of steel pans which were a treat for our audience during the concert as our Steel Pans Ensemble delighted us with a selection of Christmas favourites.
However, a true highlight for all was the Recorder Ensemble. Although the concept of 40 primary students playing the recorder is not always everyone’s cup of tea, our Recorder Ensemble proved them wrong! Every student was concentrating on producing a great sound, remembering all the music from memory and collaborating to ensure they produced a brilliant, professional performance.
As always the music department are extremely proud of all the talented musicians that work so hard throughout the year to put together such a wonderful display of music making. We understand just how much dedication and determination it takes to practise an instrument and attend regular rehearsals and the concert was a clear example that all the hard work paid off. Merry Christmas from us all!
