Sports report: Netball and Football

21 March 2014

Find out how the BISS Lions have been playing this week.

Primary Netball

On Saturday 15 March, The BISS Puxi Netball team travelled to BISS Pudong to compete in their weekly matches yet again. After warm ups, we began our first game with the BISS Pudong A team. Although we tried our best, the game ended with a close loss at 3-4. Both teams congratulated each other then moved on to our next match.

Our team played fairly and efficiently and won with a score of 4-3 against Dulwich Shanghai B team. Our final game was extremely well played and everyone worked to the best of their ability. We dominated the court, playing remarkably well against BISS Pudong B team with a passionate result of 10-2!

Next week is the finals of the tournament where we will all play each other. We’re very excited for that day!

Girls Football

The girls D7 team took on SSIS away on Monday. They played on a bigger pitch that usual, which allowed them more time on the ball and an opportunity to try long passes. The first half was very one sided in our favour with Hannah Peedle scoring a well-deserved goal after fifteen minutes. Emma Lorenzetto, our goalkeeper, did not touch the ball once as a result of our pretty much constant possession in midfield.

The SSIS keeper was tested several times by the BISS Lions but we failed to score another. SSIS came back strong towards the end and Emma was finally called into action to make a couple of safe saves. Final Score BISS Lions 1 - 0 SSIS

In their second game of the week, the BISS Lions took on a strong DIS team at home on Wednesday. The German school arrived looking organised and ready for action, as did we. It was a physical game that either team could have won, with lots of action in both halves of the pitch. Some brilliant crossing by Noelle Heinrich resulted in a DIS own goal after 10 minutes. The girls held on to the lead until the end of the second half when DIS broke down our defence to make it all level at half time.

The BISS Lions maintained their discipline and structure to come back strong in the second half, ending with Noelle scoring a brilliant winning goal to secure another win to our current streak. Final score BISS Lions 2 - 1 DIS.
