Year 4’s Football Fun Day

15 May 2014

On Wednesday, Year 4 went to Shanghai American School to take part in their second Football Fun Day of the year.

  • Year 4 Football Fun Day 2014

These days provide the children with a fantastic opportunity to develop their teamwork and collaboration skills through sport as well as to begin to appreciate the importance of preparation and learning from our own mistakes and achievements to improve our performances further.

Despite initial concerns about the weather, the sun soon came out and the morning began with a quick introduction to all the schools taking part. There were a fantastic range of teams coming from all across Shanghai as well as Suzhou, Hangzhou and Nanjing.

The children were all very excited to play and, having listened carefully to the rules for the day, set off to their respective pitches ready to begin. Our teams showed great sportsmanship throughout and impressed us both on and off the pitch with their enthusiasm and support for their classmates.

It was great to see the children using their analytical skills to evaluate their performances between matches and give kind, helpful and specific suggestions about how to improve their play for the next game.

Year 4 had a fantastic morning at the Shanghai American School, building relationships with children from other schools and fostering a love of sport in the fun, non-competitive environment. We would like to thank all the parents who came along to support our teams and wish Years 5 and 6 luck for their Football Fun Days this week.
