Success in The UK Junior Mathematical Challenge 2014

21 May 2014

Two weeks ago 79 of our students from Years 4 to 8 took part in the UK Junior Mathematical Challenge.

  • BISS Puxi students taking part in the Junior Mathematics Competition 2014

This challenge is designed to make students think, rather than answer mechanical questions, and is a great way for students to push themselves further in Maths.

This year we have seen more success across the primary and secondary school with 19 of our students achieving a Gold certificate, 21 students achieving a Silver certificate and 13 students achieving a Bronze certificate.

Around 1,200 of the highest scorers in the Junior Mathematical Challenge are invited to participate in the Junior Mathematical Olympiad and a special mention goes to two of our students who achieved high enough scores to be entered: Harvey Yuen in Year 7 and Jeong Gyeom Brian Kim in Year 8.

Well done to all our students who achieved a certificate – it’s a great achievement.

- Martin Brown, Head of Mathematics
