The students took part by wearing blue clothes and face paint and making a donation, they also contributed loose change that week. During lessons and form time students look at worldwide water related issues and reviewed the good work of Water Aid.
Mr Grocott, Head of Year 11 and Teacher of Geography and ESS said “I was glad to coordinate another World Water Day event in our school community. Our students learned about an increased awareness of global water issues such as water scarcity, lack of sanitation and access to clean water which in turn leads to wider issues of development, education and opportunities. Students found it interesting how much we take water for granted in our daily lives which is not shared equally around the world.”
The funds raised help Water Aid set up water points around the world to provide safe, clean water for children and their families. The funds BISS Puxi students have raised will assist families in Ethiopia. One 10 year old Ethiopian girl said because of the new water point near her house she now has “more energy and time for her school work”.
One of our students Tony Zhang from 12P also said “This has been one of the most enlightening activities so far this year because it has given me the opportunity to reflect on water issues that seem so far from me”.
