We ran a New Parent lunch at The Big Bamboo last Friday and have almost a full bus load of people planning to join the New Parent tour to the Flower Market, Korean Market and lunch on Hong Mei Lu on the 18 September.
We not only organise fun, we try to raise funds to use for the benefit of the students at the school. There are two events coming up which fit both of these objectives: the Urban Aphrodite play (we are running the bar!) on Thursday and Friday this week and the fabulous Welcome Back Party, don't miss it!
Ticket orders for the Welcome Back Party must be placed in the collection box in the Parent Hub in the primary foyer by noon next Tuesday 16 September. You can find the letter and order form on the school website.
If you miss the deadline, or have extra family and friends who wish to come, tickets will be sold at the gate as well. If you have already ordered and paid for your tickets, please look out for them being sent home with students from Thursday this week and remember that this event is RAIN-OR-SHINE (sorry, no refunds). We are looking forward to a great evening of family fun on Saturday 20 September from 6-9pm in front of the primary school. If you would like to get involved and help out at this event, all volunteers are welcome! Please get in touch by emailing us at email@example.com">firstname.lastname@example.org.
The next PTA coffee morning is on Friday 26 September. We are currently finalising the venue and will include it in next week's PTA Corner.
There are a wide range of sporting opportunities for parents of all abilities in our school community. So, if you want to dust of your cricket whites, football boots or running shoes, let us know and we will point you in the right direction.
Interested in volunteering in the local community?
A group of students are looking for parent volunteers to help them run their ECA which they have set up to work with the nearby Qingpu Xiu Long Migrant School.
Last year a group of secondary students worked with this school as part of a scheme called SRS (Students Responding to Students). This was a peer mentoring programme which paired a migrant school student with an international school and aims to foster leadership, empowerment and cross-cultural understanding. This year the school is developing further links with Qingpu Xiu Long Migrant School and running an ECA programme there, with the help of students, teachers and parents.
To support this they would like some parent volunteers, who could join them on Wednesdays from 3:40pm – 5:40pm. If you'd like to consider joining or would like further information, please email Ms Coong on email@example.com">firstname.lastname@example.org. You can find more information in this blog post about the initiative.
Ok that's about it for this week – have a great week and don't forget, if you are a new parent make sure you join our New Parent Facebook group, as well as like the school’s Facebook page for all the latest from them.
