Carel Chok and Yvonne Huang receiveing their ABRSM certificates from Mr Foyle
Tuesday was the first time that this information event has been held at school and the information delivered by our specialist teachers was very well received by parents who had many interesting questions to ask.
We run an extensive instrumental teaching programme outside the curriculum for all interested students. Twelve visiting freelance instrumental staff teach a range of instruments, including piano, voice, acoustic and electric guitar, violin, cello, brass, woodwind, drums and percussion. Over 150 students have individual lessons, for pleasure and their own satisfaction, or towards external qualifications such as the UK based Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music programme (ABRSM), for which we are an official examination centre.
We fully encourage our instrumental staff to develop and engage students to prepare and sit ABRSM examinations within their lessons. These practical or theoretical examinations can be taken on any instrument, twice a year.
The benefit of these musical examinations is enormous. They improve musicianship, aural awareness skills, sight reading, technique, and are also an excellent addition to University applications.
If you would like any more information regarding our instrumental programme or ABRSM examinations please email Martin Game, Head of Secondary Music email@example.com">firstname.lastname@example.org or Ms Zhang on email@example.com">firstname.lastname@example.org
