We then decided to look at Blue Whales, who swim in the icy Arctic waters, and found out that they can grow to as long as 30 metres. But what does that look like? It's very hard to imagine.
So, what better way to find out than to measure 30 metres out carefully using a metre stick and all the Reception Cubs?!
The children helped to count the meters and lay end to end to create a real life whale from nose to tail, albeit a very wiggly one! We found out that 30 metres is so long the children had to curl around the floor of Stage One to fit in!
Well done to the Reception cubs, who were all very sensible and patient too as we measured out the giant mammal.
