The British International School Shanghai is entering an exciting new phase of development, with major upgrades designed to enrich every stage of school life — from our youngest learners in Early Years to our Senior School students preparing for university.
As part of our continued investment in outstanding learning environments, our Early Years and Primary spaces are being transformed into bright, modern and inspiring areas, where curiosity can flourish. The renovation plans include refreshed classrooms, welcoming entrances, thoughtfully designed project areas, a beautifully upgraded library, and flexible learning spaces that encourage collaboration, creativity and independence.
Across the new Early Years and Primary areas, students will benefit from warm, child-centred design, natural textures, comfortable reading corners and classrooms. These improvements will create an environment that feels both nurturing and ambitious — a place where children can explore, question, read, build, create and grow with confidence.
Looking ahead, we are also constructing a state-of-the-art new building to further strengthen our performing arts and physical education programmes. This exciting new facility will include a Dance Studio, Drama Studio, Sports Hall and fully equipped gym, giving students even more opportunities to explore their passions and talents. Whether performing on stage, rehearsing movement, developing fitness or competing in sport, students will have access to spaces that inspire excellence.
Our commitment to future pathways is also growing. From August, BISS will introduce an A level pathway alongside our highly successful International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Students will be able to study A levels in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics and Chinese.
This addition reflects our ongoing commitment to personalised learning. By offering both IB and A level pathways, we are giving students greater choice and flexibility as they prepare for success at the world’s leading universities.
