Our Principal Writes

26 November 2015

We continue to be very busy indeed and we find ourselves more and more popular with various people keen to come to see our school in action. The quality of the teaching and learning, and our growing reputation continue to attract a good deal of interest from fellow professionals both from within and also from outside of our family of schools.

  • Principal Commendation

In addition we are currently hosting four teachers from local schools who are part of a Minhang teacher development programme, and we have a regular flow of visitors from all over the world including schools in the USA and Switzerland keen to see the school in action.

The quality of what we are doing at BISS Puxi has also been reflected in the number of prospective parents enquiring about places and visiting the school. We have never been busier. I am grateful to the parents and staff, in particular the PTA New Parents team, for the work they have done this year in ensuring that new arrivals have experienced the warmest of welcomes as they join our community. This task does, of course, begin again next term as we prepare to welcome 60 new students and their families to our community.

The multitude of exciting experiences continue apace, not just the large and obvious examples such as the current trip to the NAE camp in Tanzania, but day in and day out in the classrooms and across our huge variety of learning spaces.

The quality of the work that the students have been producing from high quality history essays to the beautiful Christmas cards now on sale have been celebrated through the award of numerous Heads of School and Principal’s Commendations. Please spare a thought and some words of encouragement for our senior students who have been challenged over the last few days with mock public exams which are a very important part of their preparations for the summer exam season.

There is still much to enjoy with the PTA Christmas Fair on Saturday, two performances of the KS 3 production of “Fool’s Gold”, the Winter Concert and a number of other Christmas events. It is at this point worth mentioning that we still have a good deal of important teaching and learning to undertake and whilst the Christmas spirit will be increasingly obvious over the next couple of weeks, we remain focussed on challenging the students and continuing to support them in improving on their personal best performances through to the last few days of term.

I look forward to welcoming you to these events over the next couple of weeks.

Kevin Foyle, Principal
