Giving Tree Ceremony

09 December 2015

After months of hard work from all the students and their families and the teachers, we were able to buy, fill up, and sort through all 620 bags of love for the Migrant School Children as part of the Giving Tree.

As the old saying goes, “For it is in giving, that I receive.”It certainly proved true when we went to the Giving Tree ceremony and saw all the brilliant smiles of all the kids when they received their gifts. That moment will stay with all of us forever. All the hard work over the past few months were all made worth it when we saw the expressions on their faces and how their faces all lit up. As Lia from Year 6 said, “It made me feel really warm when I saw the smiles light up in their faces from the presents they received.”

Being part of the Giving Tree ECA has truly been a great experience and has also taught me a lot of things, such as the importance of giving to others. Thank you again to everyone that helped with this event!

Here are what some other students thought about this experience:

Lakme- I enjoyed hearing the Chinese children singing to me and I could understand some of the things they said.It made me feel really good.

Grace-I really enjoyed the appreciation from the children. They gave us a really warm welcome.

Chloe- I really enjoyed the performances and when they opened the bags I could really see how happy they were.

Jacqueline- I really enjoyed giving the bags because it made me feel proud that I had helped them.

All the teachers said that they really enjoyed taking part and experiencing the Giving Tree Program and would love to do it again too!
