Sports Report: Primary Netball

04 February 2015

The Under 11 netball team was out again this weekend and reporters Julie Petermans and Jocelyn Chok tell us how the BISS Lions got on.

  • Under 11 Netball Blue Team 2015
  • Under 11 Netball Green Team 2015

On Saturday, 15 of our BISS Puxi Under 11 netball players travelled early in the morning out to Dulwich College in Suzhou to play matches against Dulwich College Suzhou, Dulwich College Shanghai and Wellington schools. This week we had two teams: the greens and the blues. The first game saw our blue team play against Dulwich Suzhou A team. Unfortunately they lost but it gave us an opportunity to develop as a new team and to help some players who had never played a game before, better understand the rules.

The green team then played against Wellington, and after a close defeat for us last time, it was very exciting to beat them 7-4 this time round! Then the green team played one half of a game against Dulwich Pudong, traditionally the strongest team in the tournament. We were losing 2–3 when the half time bell rang and the blue team took its place on the court. The final score was 2-11 to Dulwich but everyone from BISS played really well and accepted defeat with grace; Miss Harding and Miss Phillips congratulated us for displaying true sportsmanship.

We all enjoyed the matches and both of our teams even had extra matches just for fun against Dulwich Suzhou B and C teams, both of which we won convincingly- a great end to the day! We would like to thank all the parent supporters who attended and our student umpires Anne Zimmer and Yasmin Haines.

Blue team players: Helena, Liza, Leila, Minju, Lorenzo, Christine, Pillar and Riya

Green team players: Pelin, Lia, Jocelyn, Julie, Eric, Lowa and Sofia
