This April we continued the BISS Puxi tradition of all Key Stage 3 classes studying a Shakespeare text. To celebrate the great man, Year 9 took on the challenge of creating class performances to entertain the rest of Key Stage 3 on Friday 24 April, the day after his birthday – but as there were no official records of his birthdate we don’t actually know for sure!
As you would expect from Shakespeare, the show was a colourful mix of Chicago gangsters, life size toys, cheerleaders and of course some fantastic cross dressing. Year 9s had also re-written key scenes in modern language and added lots of physical comedy which really brought the spirit of Shakespeare to life and led to a lot of audience participation – very much in keeping with original Shakespearean performances. Well done Year 9, the Bard would have been proud!
