As part of our ‘Under the Sea’ learning theme we took the Nursery classes to the Aquarium. As you can imagine, it was a big hit! The children have been learning about the different creatures that live out at sea, so the aquarium trip was a fabulous way to bring that learning to life.
The children were fascinated by all the underwater creatures at the aquarium and were asking lots of questions about what they ate, where they slept and how they keep safe from other animals.
We had plenty of exercise as we walked from the pavilion with the Beluga Whales and seals, to the main aquarium with the underwater tunnel.
Nursery entered the main Aquarium and were greeted by sting rays and sharks. We could not believe our eyes! This sparked wonderful questioning with our little explorers. The seahorses were a particular hit. We learned a fun fact that the daddies have the babies!
When we arrived back at school, we enjoyed our packed lunch and had some well needed rest time. We can’t wait to visit more places when we move up to Reception class!
