The graduands entered the auditorium to a standing ovation to be formally welcomed by Chris Share, Head of Secondary. Jane White, Head of the IB Academy gave a moving speech recounting her time working with the cohort and her hopes for their future. The tone of the evening was a very joyful, hopeful one with a lot of looking to the future for our graduates.
Certificates and awards were given out by Principal Kevin Foyle, for outstanding effort and consistent A grades in trackers and for the great work the students have done as part of their CAS (Creativity, Action and Service) programme.
Valedictorians Richard Asfour and Esmay Drieduite took to the stage and entertained with a great double act, sharing their memories of their time at BISS Puxi and their aspirations for their class for the future. The students were then called up one by one to be presented with their graduation certificate and gift by Mr Foyle.
The graduates then all took to the stage for the traditional throwing of their mortar boards, a great photo opportunity for the audience!
Continuing the celebration, on Monday, graduates, their families and teachers made their way to the Shangri-La Pudong to enjoy the festivities at the Graduation Dinner. The evening started on the terrace overlooking the Huangpu River with lots of pictures taken against the stunning Puxi skyline. Everyone then moved into the ballroom to enjoy a delicious four course meal and hear speeches from Mr Share, Mrs White and Mr Foyle, as well from graduate Lara Al-Laham who spoke on behalf of the class of 2015 and reflected on their time at BISS Puxi and especially on the last two years working towards the IB Diploma Programme. Two of our graduates, Chloe Tytherleigh and Josephine Chan, who have been with us for the whole of our 10 year history were also invited up to receive a small gift from Mr Foyle.
After diner, the IB Rock Band entertained everyone with some brilliant music and everyone took to the dance floor.
Congratulations Class of 2015! We will miss you and wish you all the best for the future.
