It’s Not Just About the Music

03 July 2015

As our Global Orchestra students reflect on their incredible experience at the Juilliard School in New York, the trip has seen a blossoming friendship develop between two students from BISS Puxi and BISS Pudong.

Leon Palmgren from BISS Puxi and Joung Jin Kim from BISS Pudong had never met before the trip but as two of the youngest participants in the Nord Anglia Education Global Orchestra programme, they’ve now become firm friends.

  • Leon and JJ

The 16 hour flight from Hong Kong to New York meant the two students had plenty of time to get to know each other with their similar personality and love for music shining through.

Once they arrived in New York, they were delighted to learn they would room together with Leon expressing how awesome it was to have met Joung Jin because ‘’he likes shopping almost as much as me’’.

The Global Orchestra programme is more than just about music as Joung Jin feels the programme has helped him to make friends with those who understand him. As Mark Orrow-Whiting of Nord Anglia Education explains, ‘’bringing students from around the world together to be immersed in music and culture is the aim of the Global Orchestra’’

A heartwarming story from what has been a successful excursion to the Big Apple.

We will have a full wrap-up of the trip to New York next week.
