Our expectations were exceeded by the sheer number of people present (approaching 70!) and we were left impressed by the enthusiasm, focus and skill from those in attendance. In a single two hour rehearsal, we were able to complete two whole pieces in 3 part harmony (Beethoven’s ‘Signore Abbate’ and ‘Seasons of Love’ from Rent) and performed the first half of ‘Rhythm of Life’ from Sweet Charity.
This was outstanding work and the sound created from the choir was immense. We are hoping that the next rehearsal on Tuesday 13 October will see a further increase in numbers as well as some new songs. The recordings of the individual parts will be made available on the school website from next week so if you weren’t able to make the first rehearsal, you can look over the parts and join from October.
As I already mentioned, the next session will be on Tuesday 13 October and will be held in Stage One located in the Primary School. We will be preparing music to perform at the schools Christmas Fair on Saturday 28th November. The music will be varied, fun and suitable for adult choirs, and suggestions are always welcome. Please let me know if you would like to join and please also spread the news to your family and friends and encourage them to join also!
Some quotes from those that attended:
I found the session akin to the same energy boost as an hour or two spent in the gym and it makes you feel positive about almost everything.
Great choice of music, it was something to chew on, very fun!
The only thing I would complain about is that the choir sessions aren’t scheduled more frequently.
We hit all the right notes and had lots of fun!
