The children really enjoyed dressing up and were able to think of a variety of different adjectives including- strong, invisible, fast, powerful, brave and beautiful to describe their superheroes. As part of their deeper learning, we discussed the different types of costumes/clothes and are beginning to learn about the different materials which are used to make them.
The day was going fantastic until a rogue Batman (Mr Webb and his accomplices) took over BISS Puxi. Thankfully, our mini superheroes were able to catch the bad guys and reclaim control over the school and more importantly, the playground.
We were also lucky enough to be visited by comic book artist- Billy Tan. Billy has worked for Marvel on projects such as X-23, Uncanny X-men, New Avengers and many more. The children were very excited to see some of his work and especially loved the drawings of Batman! Billy was then able to teach the children how to draw 3D buildings and different superheroes. We will be using some of the skills that we have learned from Billy to help us create our own comic strips.
The Year 1 team would like to thank Billy for his help and support with this.
