The students were challenged to build a free standing catapult using only lollipop sticks, elastic bands, a bottle cap and some blue tack.
After building their catapult, the children then had to see whether they could fire a mini marshmallow on to two different targets: one that was 1.5 meters away and one that was 3 meters away.
The children had to think carefully about the length of their leaver, the tension in the rubber bands, the angle in which to release the mini marshmallow and the height of the release.
Throughout the duration of the workshop, the children had lots of fun building, adjusting and firing their catapults. At the very end of the workshop, we challenged the children to see whose catapult could fire the furthest. We are pleased to announce that the winner was Thijmen Arts. (6I)
All the children worked really hard to build a wide range of catapults which are now on display in the Primary Reception.
