There is much to look forward to over the coming months, all the details of which you can find in the calendar section of our website.
We have 80 new students and their families joining us this month who we know you will welcome warmly and support as they settle into life in our school community this term.
There have been just a couple of staff changes this term, primarily the addition of two new teachers and the appropriate Learning Assistants, in the Early Years Cubs Department. This is necessary to allow us to add new Pre Nursery and Nursery classes this term, and therefore accommodate some increased student numbers.
Our staff recruitment for the academic year 2016-17 is also already well underway and I am delighted to be able to report that staff turnover, as is most often the case, is low, with a turnover this year of around 12.5%. We have already secured some very exciting and talented new staff and we will be hoping to complete the bulk of the staff recruitment at the Nord Anglia Education Fair in London late this month. Pen portraits of the new members of staff that we have secured will appear on the school website shortly and we will add the rest as they are appointed.
The enhancement and development of the Early Years Cubs Department was the primary focus of our campus development work over the holiday although, as ever, there was a lot of far less obvious or glamorous maintenance work undertaken to keep the building in tip top condition and to ensure that all the important systems are in good order and operating well.
We have, as you know, been working to improve the security arrangements on site and we ask for your continued support with regards to the use of the ID badges when entering and exiting the site, especially the cycle gate where there will be increased vigilance regarding the use of cards for access to the grounds. If you still do not have a new ID card you will need to apply for one as the old cards will be phased out in the first couple of weeks of this term.
The incredibly busy calendar of events for this term swings into action next week with the start of the ECA and BISCAP programmes and various information events for parents as well as a rich variety of exciting experiences inside and outside the classroom. All of which you can follow through the blog on our website and through various social media, including our new official BISS Puxi WeChat account.
I look forward to welcoming you to some of these events over the next few weeks.
