HULT Business School Leadership Lecture

01 December 2016

On Thursday, 24th November, Year 13 Business Management students attended a presentation by HULT International Business School. Students were first presented to by Gunilla Olofsson, from the student liaison team who gave an introduction to university life.

HULT has campuses in San Francisco, London, Dubai and Shanghai and the student body is currently made up of 126 nationalities. They have strong links with industry and offer internships with companies such as Unilever and Ferrari. Their focus is on the application of business knowledge to real life situations and on the development of problem-solving skills.

Students then received an inspirational guest lecture by Professor Warwick of HULT International Business School, on the subject of Leadership. Students listened to and discussed the 'super powers' of a variety of leaders, both historical and current. They learned that leadership is not about a person, but about a set of behaviours and creating good habits. It was motivating for the students to hear about so many different leadership examples. It also provided an opportunity for students to reflect on the role of leaders in management, prior to their mock exams. One student commented that the lecture had made her consider her future career and how she realised that she needed to develop her ability to work in a team.

This was an excellent opportunity for Year 13 to gain insight into university life, and also to develop their understanding of leadership within business. The Business Management department looks forward to further collaboration with HULT.
