Primary Students Getting Excited for Mathematics Week

17 February 2016

Next week, the primary school will be having a week of special events all linked to Mathematics. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to realise how fun Maths can be and for them to experience Maths outside of their normal lessons.

  • Maths Week

As well as all of the wonderful Maths activities which will be happening in each individual year group, there will also be whole school Maths events.

These include:

Raising money for Qing Pu Xiulong Migrant School

Children creating 3D mathematical signs and shapes using 1 Yuan coins

Bake Sale; A mental maths challenge for children to try to beat their previous score

An opportunity for children to compete against the teachers

A hands on "Estimation Corner"

An interclass collaboration opportunity, in which each class will be partnered with another so that they may teach each other a mathematical concept

A "Design a Maths Hat" activity.

It really does promise to be a very exciting week, one full of great opportunities for the children to enjoy maths beyond their usual classes. Thank you for your support and feel free to continue the Mathematics fun at home to make it a truly spectacular week.
