Shanghai Swim League Championships Report

03 March 2016

Last weekend saw BISS Lions take 87 swimmers across the weekend to SAS Pudong to compete in the Shanghai Swim League Championships. This was the largest number of swimmers that we have had compete.

The swimmers have worked hard on improving their technique, stamina and speed since August and this competition was a great opportunity to show case our improvements as a team.

Saturday saw the 11 and overs compete and they managed to achieve 67 personal best times in the pool and showed a great team spirit cheering each other on and preparing correctly for all their races. Daniel Tafelski (boy’s captain) had some magnificent races and managed to score the second highest total points in the over 15 age category. This is a great achievement against extremely tough competition.

On Sunday we had the 10 and under competing and for many, this was their first inter school competition. The swimmers achieved 88 personal bests and the under 8 girls relay team managed to finish third overall.  Many of the swimmers executed their starts, turns and finishes with precision and showed excellent concentration throughout all their races.

There was an excellent atmosphere throughout the entire weekend with great parental support and cheering throughout the competition.

Well done to all those who swam this weekend and for all your hard work so far this year in training. A special thank you to Monique Ramaker who has helped to coach the swimmers and provided expert advice and guidance both at training and competitions.
