One week before the lesson, the students did some research and wrote down the Chinese name of the snack food they wanted to bring in. They then taught each other the name of the food item; they wrote it down and learned how to say and write it.
In the lesson, students brought in an amazing array of food. They were happy to share their knowledge and food with each other – chatting and eating while learning!
At the end of the lesson, they had to demonstrate the words they had learned as an exit card from the lesson!
All the students enjoyed learning Chinese in this different way.
I would like to thank all of the students and their parents for the well prepared and delicious food! In particular Justin who made the Tiramisu all by himself! I think I would like to go and try some more 提拉米苏tí lā mĭ sū myself…..
