Students took part in rhythm and coordination activities before enjoying a guest performance from two accomplished violinists (Robert Hu and Vivienne Chen) and a rather loud round of ‘Musical Jeopardy’!
Students will spend the next three sessions having the opportunity to try a wide range of orchestral brass, woodwind, and string instruments – before being allocated one of their top choices for the year. As well as weekly sessions from our classroom music team, students will receive masterclasses from our visiting peripatetic team – and they will have time to develop their instrumental technique before moving in to mixed orchestras later on in the year.
Our collaboration with Juilliard has inspired new, exciting, and innovative opportunities in the curriculum – and we look forward to utilising the unique resources created by Juilliard in our new orchestra curriculum.
We highly recommend that students have regular practise on their instrument, and we are thrilled to share that our newly purchased instruments will be made available to rent for the duration of the year. A letter has already been sent to families, but for more information please do not hesitate to contact the Music department. The rental fee and deposit can be paid by following this link to Yoopay.
