Chinese Programme

Primary Key Stage 1 and 2 native Chinese parent workshop

An important part of our Internationalism at BISS is encouraging students to be ambitious in developing their language skills to the highest possible level. This will equip them to be empathetic, confident and responsible citizens and leaders of the future.

To support this aim, we held the first of a parent information workshop this week for parents of students in the native class. We were delighted to receive over 80 parents and guardians to the workshop.

Ms Phoebe Wang, Head of Primary Mandarin, introduced the key curriculum changes to the native course. She also suggested how we could support the academic study of our children in Mandarin through some recommended on-line Apps, including Wawa Yaya to which all BISS primary students have a personal log-in. She also demonstrated a number of games that parents could use to raise the level of interest and enjoyment of their child’s study of Chinese.

We will be following up on this workshop with two more workshops and will send out information on the dates shortly:

  • For non-native parents of children in the native Chinese class.
  • Games and learning activities to support your child’s learning at home.

认识汉字(象形字,部首介绍,汉字结构,汉字的笔顺,反义字。词语积累,儿歌诵读)

会写 : 个汉字左右

作业:

一周一次

生字书写和课文相关练习

 

3) 朗读/Reading

  • 课内课文朗读(指读)/independent reading (finger-pointing reading)
  • 课后与家长一起朗读课文,巩固课堂学习内容/ text reading with parents to reinforce class learning
  • 课外阅读材料 : Better Chinese (每周一次)
  • 课外家庭亲子阅读时间/home reading time
