The Art Exhibition

Given the busy schedule of IB, it is often really easy to forget about your hobbies to focus on academics for an exam or a predicted grade instead. I think it is kind of sad if we let go or give up midway the hobbies we love, because they are eventually what we do to find out who we truly are. This art exhibition is a tribute to years of perseverance and passion on my part as well as Eugene’s, who happens to be dedicated to the same field as I am. We want to share our love for the arts by displaying some of the artworks that we are most proud of and hope that students could have fun as the term is coming to a close.

This rationale motivated us to organize the exhibition. From the birth of an idea in its infancy scribbled on paper, to actually transforming it into living reality, a lot of thinking and planning has gone into the process. For example, the first question we had to resolve was how to acquire the materials we need to put the artworks on display. Similarly, we had to consider the style of framing for the sake of optimum visual effects in terms of arrangement and board distributions.

Needless to say, these key challenges greatly assessed our organizational skills, leadership and critical thinking on the spot when problems arise. Thanks to the indispensable support of Ms.Dixon as well as invaluable suggestions from Mr.Restell, we were able to share with them our concerns and come up with creative solutions to advance our plans. Doubtlessly, nothing would be possible if not for the ongoing support of the guards, especially Mr.Hao, who helped us hang up the giant calligraphy rolls amounting to more than 194 cm that without him we wouldn’t be able to handle ourselves

We also collaborated closely with our friends, who were very generous by loading the heavy boards onto trolleys and taping historical explanations underneath each piece. At the end of the day, this exhibition is a culmination of joint effortfrom a lot of people in our friendly BISS community. We are so happy and grateful to see students appreciating the works and inquiring into the underlying meaning of each piece!
