Week Beginning 25 January 2016

Uniform: Now that it is colder in the mornings please remember that children should not be wearing leggings, boots or hoodies. They should be wearing school jumpers/cardigans/fleeces and NOT non-uniform versions. Information is available on the Primary Parent Handbook on the website.

In Literacy this week, the children will be writing four paragraphs using their research from the last week. As part of this we will have a focus on teaching the children key skills to up level their work, including the use of various openers, adverbs, connectives (but, because) and a range of punctuation.

This week we will be focusing on multiplication. This will include using the short multiplication method for multiplying 2 digit numbers by a single digit (21 x 3) and a focus on the mental recall of multiplication facts for the 3, 4 and 8 times tables.

This week, the children will be continuing their art focus. They will be designing and making negative stencils and collographs of dinosaur footprints, plants from the Mesozoic times and fossils. These will be used to create prints and rubbings using paint and wax. The final piece of artwork will be used as a background paper to present their dinosaur non-chronological report.

As part of our art focus, the children will be continuing to consider what they have done well and how they could further improve their skills, particularly in writing. This is part of our work on helping the children to set their own targets.

Literacy – non-chronological, title, heading, sub-title, sub-heading, paragraph, key word, glossary, contents page, index, diagram, photograph, label, caption, skim, scan, research

Koken, bakken, braden...
