Year 4 are looking at arguments and shall begin by considering the balanced structure of this genre. They shall delve deeper by analysing the sentence structure and the connectives used in order to compare and show cause. In order to develop a better understanding, they shall work in pairs to generate arguments for and against and will complete a shared piece of writing so that they can learn from their peers.
This week we shall be covering data handling. The children will learn to draw and interpret line graphs using a simple scale. They will discuss the difference between measuring and counting data (continuous and discrete) and the alternate ways of illustrating this in graphical form. They will have opportunities to collect data and create their own graphs. We shall also revisit pictograms using more complicated diagrams to present data.
Students will be excitedly making final preparations to share their Learning Journal with parents at the ‘Active Planet’ Learning Showcase. They will be learning how to teach parents how to print and create earthquake proof structures together.
Students will revise how to resolve differences by looking at alternatives, making decisions and explaining choices to avoid conflict.
