Year 11 Student Parent Teacher Conference & IB Information Evening

We are holding a Student-Parent-Teacher Conference for Year 11 on Thursday 16 January, 2020. This will run from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and will take place on the second floor of the Secondary campus in the Mandarin classrooms. It provides an opportunity to discuss your son or daughter’s progress with their subject teachers.

You can now make a series of appointments with individual teachers using the SchoolsBuddy app.

Students are expected to attend with their parents, as the opportunity for open, three-way communication between student, teacher and parent is very valuable.

This is the final SPTC for Year 11 before students undertake their exams in May and June, so it is vital that you take this opportunity to discuss and understand how to support your children in the run up to the exams. With that in mind, we would strongly urge you to bring a copy of their most recent tracker with mock results so that you can discuss with your son or daughter’s teacher how to improve on these grades.

During the evening Mr Housham, Head of IB Academy, and members of his team will give a presentation which will introduce you to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

There will be two opportunities to hear the IBDP presentation - 4:30pm until 5:15pm and 6:00pm until 6:45pm – with both taking place in the IB Academy on the third floor. Both sessions are identical so it is only necessary to attend one. You are also encouraged to make time to speak to staff during the course of the evening about IBDP courses if you have subject specific questions. Members of each department will be available during this evening and will have resources available to give you a little more information about each subject and level.  There will be plenty of staff expertise on which you and your child can draw.

I would urge you to make appointments with all your son/daughter’s teachers. Please also engage in conversations with your son or daughter beforehand regarding coursework and their perceived progress in each subject.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 16 January.
