Learning beyond the classroom at our Shanghai primary school
The academic curriculum is at the core but there are many opportunities for children to learn beyond the classroom and develop new skills through participation in productions, educational day visits, residentials, themed days and an extensive extracurricular activities programme.
In KS2 students are encouraged to develop leadership skills and become more globally aware by assuming responsibilities within one of the student engagement groups, such as House Captains, Student Council or Global Classroom. Through our formal and informal curriculum we support all children in developing social confidence; to be self-reliant and self-disciplined; and to form positive relationships with students and adults.
At our international primary school, we help our students become more globally aware and to start to understand the responsibilities of being part of a local or global community. We work closely with parents to build open and honest partnerships in which regular communication and mutual support is fundamental.
Our aim is to ensure that the high standards achieved by our KS2 students prepare them for the best possible transfer into secondary school. They leave us as highly engaged and self-motivated learners, well equipped with the knowledge, skills and the learning tools to achieve their goals and develop as confident global learners.
