Week Beginning 17 October 2016

The trip to the Zoo will be on Thursday 20 October. We will be leaving school at approximately 9.00am and returning to school in the afternoon, in time for the usual end of day arrangements. Children will be provided with a pack lunch, they will need a suitably sized bag so they can carry with them.


  • Homework will be given out on Wednesdays and expected in on Mondays. 
  • Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy on our website.
  • Please remember to send in and label your child’s snack box and water bottle, as well as a coat during the cold  weather.
  • If for any reason your child is unable to take part in PE, please send a signed message in your child’s communication book.  Your child still needs to bring in their PE kit to enable them to participate as a coach, an official or to give feedback.  


In Literacy we will be learning to write recounts.  The children will learn to understand that different genres require a different layout and to compose a sentence orally before writing it.  Their recounts will reflect on the sushi making activity from last week as well as the exciting Zoo trip.

This week we will be look at ordering events in chronological order and we will be using vocabulary such as: before, after, next, and then. Our context for this learning will be the days of the week, months of the year and the seasons and by the end of the week the children will be able to order these and be able to write and answer questions using mathematical vocabulary correctly.

This week Barnaby Bear will be visiting the UK. He will be teaching us all about the countries that make the UK and about some of the famous buildings/landmarks, such as Buckingham Palace and Big Ben. We will be looking closely at the different shapes that we can see when sketching some of the buildings. We will also learn about the weather and the money they use in England.

We will now begin the first week of a series of lessons on computer coding. We will be using the Espresso Coding software. The children will begin to learn how basic inputs can make objects move.

Deze week kijken we terug naar  alle reizen die we gemaakt hebben de voorbije weken.  We gingen op reis met kikker en egel en vlogen samen met de 8 schijfjes  banaan de wereld rond.

We maken een reiskoffertje en vullen het met onze mooiste herinneringen.

De letter van de week is de  -aa- !

Naar aanleiding van het kinderboekenweekthema `Voor altijd jong` beginnen we volgende week met een nieuw thema `Houden van...`.   We zullen in de klas een familiestamboom maken en praten over onze grootouders.  Kan u enkele leuke familiefoto`s mailen naar of meegeven met uw kind?  Dank voor uw medewerking hierbij.
