MESSAGES

  • Giving Tree – Each year, Giving Tree aims to provide children in need with a gift bag full of winter clothes and school supplies.  Please support this worthwhile cause.
  • Remembrance Day - On Thursday 9 November, we will be marking Remembrance Day in school. This will be marked at 8.30am, with students, staff and parents on the playground.

LITERACY

Next week will see the start of our work on diary writing in Literacy. Firstly, the children will familiarise themselves with the form and features of diary entries. They will focus on using emotive language and using show don’t tell as they imagine meeting real, living dinosaurs and describing their experiences in their own diary.

MATHS

Next week children will be learning to classify 3D and 2D shapes in various ways using mathematical properties. They will rehearse the vocabulary associated with shape and measure the perimeter of simple 2D shapes.

STEAM THEME

Next week, in Themed learning, the children will be learning how to create a stop motion animation with audio voice over. They will create a short film about the dinosaur they have been researching and record interesting information over the film.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

For the next three weeks, the Year 3 children will be using computers to manipulate images. First, they will edit photographs using ipiccy.com. They will add effects, alter the colour saturation, draw and crop to create their desired result.

PSHCE

The children are now really embedding their core skills into each lesson and are developing a good understanding of how these skills are useful and required across all of their learning. This week we will continue our focus on how we can use the core skill ‘compassion’. This skill focuses children on other people’s emotions and they learn how to empathise with others and act accordingly. We also talk about compassion in relation to being giving and kind. This fits well with the school’s current charity project ‘the Giving tree’

DUTCH

Afgelopen vrijdag hebben de leerlingen gegriezeld en genoten  tijdens de SDS griezelfilmavond.

Sommige leerlingen hebben er zelfs nachtmerries van gehad, zo griezelig!

De kinderboekenweek is nu afgelopen maar de leerlingen mogen natuurlijk gewoon verder gruwelijke enge boeken van de kinderboekenweek lezen. Ze zijn allemaal in de bibliotheek te vinden.

We zijn nog niet klaar met griezelen! De leerlingen werken verder aan het griezelverhaal. Kunnen de leerlingen net zo’n griezelig verhaal schrijven als  Onnoval in de film de Griezelbus?

Huiswerk is weer als in het begin van het jaar: spelling oefenen met BLOON, Nieuwsbegrip en vergeet niet te lezen met Estafette.

Die Hausaufgabe für diese Woche finden die Kinder im Booklet auf Seite 19, Nummer 3 und 4. Sie sollen den Text lesen, dann abschreiben und die Satzzeichen setzen. Dabei sollen sie besonders darauf achten, die Satzanfänge groß zu schreiben. Außerdem sollen sie einen Eintrag im Lesetagebuch machen.

Nächste Woche werden wir anfangen, uns mit der Schreibung von Wörtern mit >ß< zu beschäftigen. Nächsten Freitag findet wegen einer Lehrerfortbildung kein Deutschunterricht statt.
