MESSAGES

  • Homework will be given out on Wednesdays and expected in on Mondays. 
  • Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks.   • Please remember to send in and label your child’s snack box and water bottle, as well as a hat during the hot weather.
  • Registration for the HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) is now open to adults and students. The HSK test will be held on Saturday 11 November 2017. Please see the attached registration form for information. Full documentation and payment for HSK test must be received by Monday 9 October 2017.

LITERACY

The children have been working hard on writing their own endings for the Iron Man, thinking about the structure of chapters and their beginning, middle and end. This week, we will be using that understanding to plan and write our own stories. The childen will have to think about the structure of their story, and create a narrative which has 5 parts to it. The key challenge for them will be to make sure that the chapters ‘flow’ well together and that the story makes sense. We will use a widening range of grammatical skills to make the writing interesting for the reader.

MATHS

We will be teaching ‘time’ next week in Maths.  There will be an initial focus on telling the time using analogue clocks consolidating how to tell the time; including to five minute and one minute demarcations. Then the students will have opportunities to interpret information from timetables, convert between different units of time, match analogue and digitial times, and finally solve time word problems.

THEMED LEARNING

This week, the children will look at their design briefs and think about building their actual games. They will have to look at their plans and decide which part to create and build first, thinking about why they are choosing that order. By the end of the week, we hope that the children will be most of the way towards a completed project, and will be able to evaluate their designs.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING  AND  DIGITAL LITERACY

This week the children will continue to undertake research about an important inventor and invention, thinking about why they were important and the impact it has had on the world. They will begin to present their information in a chosen format.

Year 3 / 4 French – Ms De Borger
This week’s homework will be practising our poem ‘ Une souris verte’ at home.

Next week we will read the story `La sortie de Monsieur Gentil`.  Monsieur Gentil wants to go on a boat ride and all the animals want to come along.  Let`s hope the boat stay afloat!  We will act out the story, repeating simple phrases out of the story and using different props to make an iMovies video.

Next week the children will read an interesting story of YCT2 about two students who meet a bird, and they are surprised that the bird can talk. They ask the question with each other! We will focus on learning how to use pattern “ what is your name?” and “my name is ……”

Klaar voor de start

In KS2 wordt nu hard gewerkt aan een spel.De leerlingen hebben verschillende spellen en handleidingen bekeken om inspiratie op te doen. Nu ontwerpen ze  zelf een spel met als thema “de klas”.  Ze ontwerpen zelf het bord, de handleiding, vragen- en opdrachtkaartjes.

Spelling werken we verder in Blok2. Ik zie dat er thuis ook goed geoefend wordt met BlOON. Heel erg goed, ga zo door!
